Student Exchange Program

Are you feeling the urge to do something different? It’s time for you to chart your own path. Life isn’t only about what you see and do in your own country, hometown or school, or even with your friends. For a school year (or even for a few weeks) you can dare to be different! As Asia is widely believed to be the most dynamic continent in the world and economically it presents endless opportunities as well, you would be glad to hear about that we offer a student exchange programme for you to explore the unique culture of two Asian countries - Japan and Malaysia. For those who are hoping for a glimpse into a fascinating and completely different way of life, look no further than Japan and Malaysia.

Japanese culture intriguingly merges contrasting elements for a harmonious society in which the old and the new seamlessly blend together, whereas the diversity of the Malaysian society has put into place the wide use of many other languages and dialects such Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and other indigenous languages. The ethnic diversities of Malaysia expose students to a value-added life, global outlook and better understanding of different cultures, ethnic groups, and traditions throughout the world. Through exploring these two countries, you’ll discover that every moment, every conversation and experience, challenge the way you look at the world.

About The Program

In this exchange program, a student will spend one or two semesters at universities abroad and take courses in a regular semester with credit transfer opportunity. Students are encouraged to study at universities partners to all over the world. They’ll be placed with a host family or school hall and attend a local school so that they will become immersed in the culture.

Immersing in a new language

Living in Japan, you'll be able to fully immerse yourself in Japanese, a tough language that is very rewarding to speak and use once you've gotten the basics down. Total immersion is one of the best ways to conquer Japanese, particularly the kanji writing system; whereas living in Malaysia, you'll be able to fully immerse yourself in multi-languages such as Malayalam and Hindi.

Gaining cultural experience

While you live the typical daily life of another culture, you are learning every minute of every day. Students will find themselves completely immersed within a different culture once they have arrived in Japan or Malaysia, due to differences in the cuisine, architecture, familial tradition, and even the ways in which people carry out conversation! After having spent a significant amount of time in these two countries, students will find that they have become accustomed to the culture of Japan and Malaysia and will find themselves essentially able to behave in the manner of a local. Especially for Malaysia, which is known for being a food paradise, gourmet ranges from street food to fine dining but her myriad of flavors are definitely unique to the island state. The great food culture in Malaysia will serve you well!

This excellent learning opportunity typically leaves an exchange student with a better understanding for people of all sorts, and can really make young people feel as though they have become “citizens of the world.” After the return to one’s native country, an exchange student will likely enjoy sharing his or her new culture with those around them.

Meet new friends from all around the world

By being an exchange student you will meet friends from all around the world. Your exchange program will have meetings and trips for you where you get to meet other exchange students. It is so much fun when exchange students get together because you have so much in common. You will also meet tons of native friends in your exchange country that you will have a close relationship with for the rest of your life. It is incredible to see hordes of people from numerous foreign regions interacting with one another, forming friendships and promoting cultural understanding. The friendships one creates while on exchange are often very long-lasting and studded with great memories!

Personal development

While on the exchange, students are confronted with challenges in everyday life that they will have never before experienced. Everything is new, as the student adjusts to life in a foreign place with a completely different language and culture. Although this may seem utterly frightening, the difficulties associated with everyday life during a year abroad can truly teach a person countless life lessons. At the end of the exchange period, young people typically possess a greater understanding of foreign cultures and diplomacy . Even better, the student will have accomplished something very unique for a person of their age – living independently for an extended period of time in a foreign country, without the aid of their natural parents. Having enjoyed the good and survived the bad components of a year abroad, the student will return to their home country with newfound strength, confidence, and self-understanding. Few other experiences can help young people to gain these qualities so early on in life , that is truly the magic of foreign exchange!
